Some things are simply meant to be, and that’s exactly how Dr. Brent Post felt when he first met Dr. Tony Oddo and the team at High Desert Veterinary. After years of working as a managing DVM, Brent was ready to put down roots in a clinic of his own. At the same time, Tony was looking to pass the torch to someone who shared his vision and passion for veterinary care. The timing couldn’t have been better for either of them.
As the new owner and Medical Director of High Desert Veterinary, Brent is committed to upholding and building on the legacy that Tony established. Brent brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the clinic, backed by his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Carleton College in Minnesota and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis, where he graduated in 2010. With 14 years of hands-on experience, Brent combines his love for animals with his dedication to providing the highest standard of care.
Dr. Post is a strong advocate for clear and empowering communication with clients. He takes a thoughtful approach to veterinary leadership, ensuring that pet owners fully understand their options so they can make the best choices for their pets and families. It’s this warm, compassionate approach that continues to make High Desert Veterinary a special place for both pets and their owners.
Dr. Jon Enyart focused his early career on wild animals in their natural habitats. Relocating from San Diego, he and his family enjoy Central Oregon’s natural beauty and outdoor activities.
Dr. Enyart earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in 1999 and graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. He spent a decade as an emergency veterinarian in California, gaining expertise in acute and critical care.
Certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Dr. Enyart ran a holistic practice from 2014 to 2018, integrating modern medicine with complementary therapies. Later, as Senior Director of San Diego’s Project Wildlife, he developed innovative wildlife care practices and restructured operations.
With experience in emergency, holistic, and wildlife medicine, Dr. Enyart brings a well-rounded approach to the High Desert Veterinary Clinic. He is passionate about helping animals thrive and supporting pet owners in their care journey.
For over twenty years, Amber has been a cornerstone of High Desert Veterinary.
With her wealth of institutional knowledge, she leads the team with compassion and expertise, blending her skills as a veterinary technician with her role as Clinic Manager alongside Dr. Post.
Outside the clinic, Amber’s life is just as full—she shares her home with eight dogs, embraces her love for the wild outdoors, and cherishes time spent with her new grandson. Her ability to balance the demands of clinic life with the joys of family and friendship makes her an invaluable leader and mentor.
Walk into the clinic on Monday mornings, and you’re likely to be met with Deb’s warm smile welcoming you and your pet. Whether you meet her in person or over the phone, Deb is your first advocate to get the care you need for your pet at the clinic. Bring her your concerns and questions—she’s got you!
Wednesdays you’ll meet Haley escorting patients in and out of appointments, educating owners about how to maintain high quality care of their dear pets, and answering any medical questions that arise with the doctors’ help.
When Deb isn’t at the helm of the front desk, you can find Skylar there welcoming you and your pet. Fielding calls and text messages from clients while scratching chins of pet patients as they arrive and leave for home, Skylar is your first advocate to get the care you need for your pet at the clinic. Bring her your concerns and questions—she’s got you!
Mersadies does a little bit of everything at the clinic from escorting patients in and out of appointments, lovingly and firmly cradling patients during care, educating owners like you on the next steps in home care for your pets, and answering any medical questions that arise with the doctors’ help. Sometimes you’ll find her fielding phone calls at the front desk too. Fun fact: Mersadies is the founder or Soft Paws, a pet rescue organization that finds and rehomes wonderful pets from kill shelters.
Born and raised in Bend and a loyal HDV client for as long as she can remember, Janelle has managed horses up and down the West Coast and loves every animal she’s ever met — Golden Retrievers most of all. She and her husband and daughter Scarlett spend their weekends exactly how you’d expect: on a trail, with a dog (or a horse) leading the way.
Karen came to High Desert Veterinary to learn from our doctors and staff while training to become a Certified Veterinary Technician, and she liked it so much she never left. She spent many years in business operations before turning to veterinary medicine, looking for a more direct and fulfilling way to serve her community and its animals. She found it here, where her days mix the organized calm of a seasoned operations pro with the heart of someone who would rather be with the animals.
At home, Karen looks after her own ragtag menagerie of rescues: dogs, cats, horses, alpacas, goats, ducks, and geese. When she isn’t on barnyard duty, you’ll find her volunteering with one of Central Oregon’s animal-welfare organizations, which provide essential care to animals in need.
Katie is the heart behind the scenes at High Desert Veterinary — part marketing brain, part operations wizard, and full-time animal lover. As our Paw-sitive Outreach Coordinator, she’s the one connecting our clinic with the Bend community, dreaming up new ways to support pets and their people, and making sure everything runs smoothly behind the curtain so our vets and techs can focus on what they do best.
When she’s not building newsletters or brainstorming HDV’s next big idea, you can find Katie out on the trails around Central Oregon with a pack of happy dogs in tow. But her favorite part of the job? Getting to know every single patient who walks through our doors — from the shy first-timers to the old friends who greet her by name (or bark).
Katie believes healthy pets really do make for happier lives and a better world, and she brings that spirit to everything she does at HDV.
