Vaccines & Schedules

Vaccines protect your pet from serious, often preventable diseases. Keeping vaccinations current — and on schedule — gives your dog or cat the best lifelong protection. Not sure what your pet needs? That’s exactly what we’re here for.

Recommended Vaccines for Dogs and Puppies

Vaccinations begin at 8 weeks old with the distemper/parvo series, followed by a rabies vaccine at 16 weeks. After the initial series, dogs need an annual distemper/parvo booster and a rabies booster every three years. See our Healthy Puppy Packages.

Vaccine Recommendation
DA2PP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus) Core. Given at 8, 12, and 16 weeks, then annually.
Rabies Core. Given at 16 weeks, again 1 year later, then every 3 years.
Bordetella Recommended for dogs that board, attend daycare, or have high dog-traffic exposure.
Leptospirosis Recommended based on exposure to water, wildlife, or livestock.
Canine Influenza Based on exposure. Some local boarding facilities require it.
Lyme Disease Not generally recommended unless traveling to an area where Lyme is present.
Rattlesnake Not core, but worth discussing if your dog spends time in the high desert or backcountry.
